Shark sighting off Rodeo Beach in Marin County has resulted in that beach’s temporary closure. Note the reference to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area’s policy on closures for routine shark sightings. We’ve come a long way from Roy Schieder screaming on the beach of Amity Island.

 Lifeguards in training: A class from the Miramar College San Diego Regional Lifeguard Academy (according to most of their sweatshirts) faces the waves at an early Sunday morning class at Mission Beach Park.
